Our Neighborhood Academy provides opportunities for young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to broaden their skills, increase their social confidence, and gain a greater sense of independence.

We hope to build upon these clubs and offer even more unique social opportunities for our young adults. To do so, we need your help!

Who We help?

Our Neighborhood Academy specifically supports young adults ages 18+ with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who have graduated from high school or completed adult transition programs. Many of our students come from Berkley Public Schools, Birmingham Public Schools, and other local districts.

What We Do

We offer three distinct programs designed to build independence and community:

  • Social Program: Monthly events and community meet-ups that build friendships and communication skills

  • Job Training: Real employment experience through our Children's Boutique and custom job opportunities

  • Curriculum Program: Comprehensive life skills education using the Stanfield Transitions Curriculum

    is to provide young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities access to a safe and nurturing space where they matter and belong, where they enjoy equal access and rights, and where they can broaden their skills, build social confidence, and gain a sense of independence, and enhance and explore their unique and true potential.

    is to provide diverse training experiences and independent living skills for young adults with Intellectual and Devolopmental Disabilites who live in our community. With guidance and dedication for each student, we will prepare participants for employment either at Our Neighborhood Academy or in a local business.
